Committees

The following standing committees work year-round through the central office on projects which benefit FSSA members. The committees are:


Technical

Participates in the work of private and governmental organizations and agencies, international organizations and testing agencies which develop standards, codes or specifications related to fire systems. Develops adequate standards, training and certification programs for field personnel.

Public Policy

This committee provides leadership and expertise for FSSA's public policy efforts and to help FSSA monitor those public policies related to FSSA's purposes. The Public Policy Committee also identifies, evaluates and monitors social, political and environmental trends, issues and concerns. The Committee also assists the Board of Directors in analyzing these public policy trends and how they may impact fire protection activities and performance.

Communications

This committee oversees FSSA's efforts to generate awareness of the benefits of special hazards fire suppression systems. It oversees the group's SHAPE program, which addresses end users and those who influence their fire protection decisions, and maintains relations with industry organizations including NFPA, SFPE, NASFM, AFAA, NAFED, HARC, BFPSA, CGA, FPAA, and NEAFPSD.
The committee is also responsible for communications projects such as the web site, brochures and press releases.

Education

Studies, recommends and presents educational programs such as NICET and employee training designed for fire systems CEO's, upper-level managers and field personnel.

Membership

This committee reviews names and qualifications of desirable FSSA prospects. Active member solicitation activities are also the functions of this committee.

Program

This committee develops FSSA Annual Meeting Programs which offer education sessions, division meetings and the opportunity to network with industry peers.

The committee is responsible for all aspects of the association's business finances.
