Association Programs

FSSA is active in educational programs for current and new fire technologies. The association provides guidance and participates in generating and enacting fire protection laws, codes, and standards, which increase the reliability, quality, and value of special hazards systems. By combining the experience and resources of our members, the FSSA can effectively support the development of safe, effective, and environmentally sound fire protection products and practices.

Technical Bulletins
The bulletin, first published in January 1997 contains safety information.
FSSA SAFETY ALERT dated Oct. 28, 1993 - January 16, 1997
Attachment: FSSA Safety Alert - 1 minute 30 seconds, 2 page PDF document

Safety Manual:
FSSA's own safety manual for member firms.

Special Hazards Fire Protection Video:
Designed by FSSA members for practical use by Designer/Installer members. This video illustrates when and why to install special hazard fire protection systems.

Technical Committee:
FSSA has been an active participant in the formulation of standards for the new clean agents, CO2 and dry chemical special hazard systems. We have worked closely with NFPA and UL in the development of standards.

Training Validation Program:
A basic testing program for special systems and the related areas of electricity and mathematics, individuals submit their tests for scoring to FSSA. Certificates of completion are sent to the individual taking the test.

White Paper I:
"Facts About Clean Agent Suppression Systems". Up to date information about the phase out of halon and the new clean extinguishing agents now available.

White Paper II:
"Why Clean Agents?". Detailed explanation of the reasons to choose clean agent fire suppression systems to protect critical facilities. Click here to download a text file of the White Paper, which you can view and print from any word processing program.
