NEW! From FSSA: Fire Protection Systems Inspection Form Guidelines
To aid those charged with performing inspections in developing and periodically reviewing their own inspection forms, FSSA has developed this book. The book details the various elements that may need to be included in the inspection of carbon dioxide, clean agent, and kitchen fire suppression systems, and associated fire alarm systems.

EPA Honors Joe Senecal
U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) honored Dr. Joseph Senecal with a Climate Protection Award for his role in the development and implementation of the Fire Protection Industry's voluntary code of practice to protect the climate by minimizing emissions of hydro-fluorocarbons (HFC) fire protection agents and the development of a method to measure HFC emissions by the fire protection industry.
LEGISLATION AND REGULATION RELATED TO HFCs CURRENTLY UNDER CONSIDERATION
Overview
This paper is intended to summarize some of the current proposals relating to HFCs. To help you with business planning, a more detailed understanding may be necessary. Current regulatory mechanisms being evaluated include proposals such as cap and trade, use restrictions, production reduction schedules, mitigation fees, fees associated with auctions, manufacturer allocations and other actions concerning HFCs. It is also important to keep in mind that regulations addressing HFCs as a broad category may or may not be relevant for HFCs used in fire protection.
The guide book, developed by the Fire Suppression Systems Association Technical Committee, discusses the NFPA® 2001 requirements as well as the experimental data. The guide book also provides equations, which may be used to estimate peak pressures and relief vent areas for discharges of FK-5-1-12, HFC-23, HFC-125, HFC-227ea, IG-55, IG-100 and IG-541 for the range covered by the experimental data.i
